ABOUT INMO
OVERVIEW: INMO 2026 is the third stage of India’s Mathematical Olympiad Programme, conducted after IOQM 2025 and RMO 2025, for selection to IMOTC 2026, leading to the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO 2026) and European Girls' Mathematical Olympiad (EGMO 2027).
ORGANIZER: It is organised by the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE), TIFR on behalf of NBHM to identify and nurture mathematically talented students from classes 8 to 12.
FORMAT: The INMO is a 4.5-hour descriptive exam consisting of six proof-based questions, with a total of 102 marks.
Objectives ofINMO
Key goals of the examination
Identify and Encourage: To identify and encourage students with exceptional problem-solving skills in advanced school-level mathematics.
National Selection Stage: To serve as the national selection stage for the International Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp (IMOTC) and, from there, for India's IMO and EGMO teams.
Promote Rigorous Thinking: To promote rigorous mathematical thinking in schools through Olympiad-style problems and solutions.

Why participate in INMO?
IMOTC Invitation: Students shortlisted from INMO 2026 will be invited to IMOTC 2026, where they will undergo intensive training and receive certificates and book prizes as INMO awardees.
IMO and EGMO Selection: Performance in INMO and IMOTC will form the basis for selection to represent India at IMO 2026 and, for eligible girls, for EGMO 2027 through a separate training camp.
INMO 2027 Eligibility: INMO 2026 awardees will also gain direct eligibility to write INMO 2027 (provided they satisfy other eligibility conditions).

Road to IMO 2026 & EGMO 2027
Your journey through the Mathematical Olympiad stages
IMO Selection
Students selected from INMO 2026 will attend IMOTC 2026, where a series of tests will determine the final six-member Indian team to represent India at the 67th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO 2026), to be held in Shanghai, China.
EGMO Selection
Eligible girl students from INMO 2026 will also be invited to a dedicated EGMO training camp in December 2026, where selection tests will be used to form the four-member Indian team for EGMO 2027, to be held in Sibenik, Croatia.
